Chlorine ‘sounds like a dream, strapped into an old cinema seat and being repeatedly slapped by a haddock on North Shield Fish Quay……a Zen sound collage, boasting formidable hypnotic qualities at every turn’ Richard Foster, The Quietus

‘Industrial ambient freak-out’ Nik Luscombe, BBC Radio 4

One fifth of beat collective Grey Tapes and revered local DJ, Bert Verso’s original productions are informed by his endless search for the perfect beat. No laptops in sight here, Verso has always felt drawn to make music on hardware samplers, synths and drum machines. A hip hop head and master of the seminal AKAI MPC, his early work weaves boombap beats with samples from his expansive record collection. His current work retains a similar aesthetic whilst channelling a long-lasting love for Kraftwerk and Detroit Techno. If you like melodic drum machine workouts you have most definitely come to the right place.

Calum Howard Keys player, composer, producer and member of live electronica collective Grey Tapes, Calum Howard creates intricate textures and beats combined with reverby vocals, analog synth, live looping, manipulated samples and live electric piano.

Calum uses his live show as a way of breathing new life into embryonic ideas from the studio, with his melodic and harmonised arrangements often being decided on the fly. Taking influence from Steve Reich, Deerhoof, Battles, Terry Riley, Radiohead, EST, and other things he listened to when he was too young to know better, Calum Howard's second ever solo set will consist of live music that has so far never been heard in recorded form.
