Municipal : The Mover Live + Jerome Hill (3AM)

  • Cobalt Studios 10-16 Boyd Street Newcastle Upon Tyne United Kingdom (map)

For the 4th Municipal party, we’re maintaining both our ‘unique contributions to techno’ ethos when selecting our guests, as well as our continued focus on live performance.

After months of negotiation and organisation, we’re delighted to finally announce that we’re bringing Marc Acardipane from Hamburg, for a spectacular live performance, under his current and hugely influential alias; THE MOVER. Marc is unquestionably one of the founding fathers of contemporary techno. His early PCP recordings from the late 80s and early 90s were seminal in their development of a harder techno sound. Mentasm stabs, pounding kick drums, oppressive tones, and despairing melodies are all hallmarks of The Mover sound. Last year he released a critically acclaimed new LP; Undetected Act From The Gloom Chamber on his own Planet Phuture imprint. You’ll undoubtedly be familiar with some tracks from this album, as they’ve been regular fixtures in DJ sets from the likes of Dettman, Hauff, and Blawan. If you need any further evidence that this performance needs to be categorised as unmissable, then check out the Youtube videos from his live performance at Reaktor in Amsterdam last year.

In-demand DJ, party promoter, highly productive producer, and owner of 4 prolific record labels; it's hard to imagine that there's anyone else in the UK electronic music scene that's busier than JEROME HILL. First and foremost though, Jerome is a wizard level DJ. He's part of an exclusive set of technically gifted techno DJs (with the likes of Claude Young, DJ Bone, Dave Clarke) who like to juggle and scratch their way through a set, entertaining the crowd, and bringing something pretty unique to a techno dance floor. With DON’T Recordings, Jerome's been releasing off-kilter techno for nearly 20 years. More recently, Super Rhythm Trax has been building on the legacy of Acid House with releases from Marshall Jefferson, DMX Krew, Wax Master Maurice, and many more. If that wasn’t enough, Jerome also continues to release his own jackin’ Chicago house inspired productions, as well as running the regular DON’T parties in East London. We’re really thrilled to welcome Jerome to our city.
