Enyang Ha Live Set
A L.A.D's production (ladies & decks)
With a voracious, genre scrambling music appetite Debonair has made a name for herself as a charismatic yet uncompromising party catalyst with a succession of celebrated live appearances at key festivals and major clubs, a small selection being Dekmantel Selectors, DC-10, De School , Unsound and Panorama Bar.
Her temperature raising selections lace together strands of avant-garde electronics, rave, EBM, no-wave, proto-techno, tripped-out house, post-punk and more into innovative yet cohesive bodies of sound, which crescendo into pure vitalizing energy during her renowned peak-time sets.
'Adventurous and transportive... her [Blowing Up The Workshop] mix covers plenty of ground: Fleetwood Mac, Cocteau Twins, Stereolab, Gangsta Boo, psych rock, Gregorian chants overlaid with computer vocalizations. The logic behind it all isn't immediately decipherable... But as freeform listening goes, DEBONAIR's set... perfectly encapsulates what she describes as the trifecta of “space, intrigue, and tenderness.” — Pitchfork
Young Korean techno shining light, Enyang Ha has long been obsessed with the colour of her music, and sees everything she does as purple, violet and variations of that. Ha choses sound as her medium to communicate with the world. Her music exists as a language, independent from origin, time or space. Observing her own adaptations and collisions with different cultures as well as the persistent training in classical music opened up multi-dimensional forms of sonic mediations. Her diverse productions and live performances mirror these possibilities of telling a story. The listener is invited into peaceful sounds of nature that then collapse with noise and swelling, heavy riff influenced techno drums. Dissonance on the peak of this journey disappears in the harmony of her voice. Continuous experiments with the possibilities of synthesis technology overcome or even demolish the boundaries of genres.
As a DJ she presents on Red Light Radio, and as a composer secured Berlin Musicboard funding with a residency to France (Riam festival etc) in 2018. In 2019, she appears under the Musicboard umbrella at Berghain Kantine, and opens the Richard Devine Berlin Funkhaus show in March. She has a remix out soon for Infine Records, and appeared at Generate! festival in Tubingen in November and appears with Debonair in the UK in May among other dates TBA. Ha just returned from several dates in her home country Korean where she continues to inspire and shine her mauve wash of light.
