ARCHIPELAGO PRESENTS : BETWEEN WAVES #2 – with FAITH BRACKENBURY
October 3rd, doors 7:30pm, FREE ENTRY
Faith Brackenbury is an improviser/ violinist/violist/vocalist/composer based in the semi wilds of Shropshire.
Classically trained at music school in Manchester she quickly diversified on leaving and studied jazz whilst playing in raucous folk bands around London. Her love of sound production from wood led her to study violin making and repair and she now plays on a violin of her making. It was much cheaper than buying a very good, named instrument.
After a Pgdip in jazz at Birmingham Conservatoire in 2012-14 Faith played and sang in various ensembles with Martin Speake and the two released a completely freely improvised album ‘Zephyr’ in 2016. Her ‘Knifeangel Project’ is a suite of four movements inspired by the Knifeangel sculpture by Alfie Bradley which aims to bring awareness to and instigate solutions to tackling knife crime in the UK. Her suite is being used in developing outreach projects around Shropshire and beyond.
Faith performs with neo- classical electronica composer Tiny Leaves and plays on his most recent album ‘Notes On Belonging’. Also released this month is the first album of original music, ‘Crossings’, her collaborative duo with accordionist/pianist John Neilson.
Faith also composes, improvises and performs with words/music fandango, Silent Monkey.
